encephalartos woodii is known as 'the loneliest plant in the world' [] it's because this cycad is extinct in the wild and there is no known female counterpart [] because cycads are dioecious, this plant can not propagate []
this foto series is curated to generate consciousness around endometriosis [] 10% of fertile people with a uterus struggle with endometriosis [] this is an illness whereby tissue which seems like mucous membrane of the uterus grows outside of the uterus [] this causes a lot of health problems such as pain comparable to contractions, fatigue and infertility [] there is no clear solution yet for this condition []
loneliness, chaos and a vague view for the future as well as patience during the process, trusting in expanding the knowledge about women in the medical field, hope and surrender were the subjects the artist was bathing in during the creation of these pictures []
the works were shown during proto art & design festival and during a group exhibition at academiehuis [2023]

encephalartos woodii staat bekend als ‘the loneliest plant in the world’ [] dit komt doordat deze palmvaren in het wild is uitgestorven en omdat er geen vrouwelijk exemplaar van bekend is [] gezien het feit dat palmvarens tweehuizig zijn, kan deze plant zich niet geslachtelijk voortplanten []
deze fotoserie is gecureerd om bewustwording te creëren rondom endometriose [] 10% van de vruchtbare mensen met een baarmoeder heeft te kampen met endometriose [] dit is een ziekte waarbij weefsel dat lijkt op slijmvlies van de baarmoeder groeit buiten de baarmoeder [] dit zorgt voor veel klachten zoals onder andere pijn vergelijkbaar met weeën, vermoeidheid en onvruchtbaarheid [] er is nog geen duidelijke oplossing voor deze ziekte []
eenzaamheid, chaos en een onbekend toekomstperspectief maar ook geduld tijdens het proces, vertrouwen op verbreding van kennis over vrouwen in de medische wereld, hoop en overgave zijn de onderwerpen waar de kunstenaar zich mee bezig hield tijdens het maakproces []
de 12 werken waren te zien tijdens proto art & design festival en in een groepsexpositie in het academiehuis [2023]
